Behaviour

At East Rainton Primary School, we believe in promoting positive mental health and emotional wellbeing to ensure that the school is a community where everyone can thrive is the best way to support behaviour.

We want children to learn behaviours that can positively impact them in school, at home and in their adult life. We want children to be SMART.

Our school ‘rules’ are ways of being SMART, giving pupils a positive outlook on behaviour. We teach the children skills to meet these through lessons and assemblies.

If children follow these rules, they can be rewarded using Class Dojo.

For example, if a child shows kindness to a friend or perseveres when facing a difficult challenge in maths, they are given a dojo point related to that SMART target.

These points equate to DOJO dollar which they can spend at our shop.

Children can also gain Dojo points by climbing up the traffic light system.

Every child always begin the day on green.

They can move up to Bronze (1 Dojo), Silver (2 Dojo’s) or Gold (4 Dojo’)

If children are not SMART e.g they are unkind a friend or make a poor choice in response to their emotions, children are given a verbal warning and if this isnt followed they can be moved down the traffic lights to Amber ( lose 5 minutes of playtime) or Red (lose 10 minutes of playtime) If this happens, children will be encouraged to discuss their choices and identify what better choices they could make next time.
