This term, Year 5 & 6 have been enjoying being taught by Mrs Cook, a design and technology teacher and artist. Their work has included junk modelling, designing and constructing a prototype bridge and then making the final product. Other parts of the project include the children using various cutting and fixing tools and ending with some food technology. The children are thoroughly enjoying the project as you can see from the photographs below.
All the children across the school sampled some Chinese food as part of the Chinese New Year celebrations. They also learnt some Chinese words through some songs.
As part of their topic this term, Class 4 (Year 5 & 6) had a fun afternoon composing their very own river’s journey after listening to examples of music that depicted the different stages of a river. By using their knowledge of the three different courses of a river and their features, the children were able to decide on their instrument, the tempo and dynamics of their composition.
Class 2 have been learning how to collect data. We asked each other questions about our favourite things and we recorded our data using tally charts and pictograms! We even tried to prove Miss Exley wrong that there the green smarties were the most common.
Class 2 were invited to compete in the Infant Agility games this year. We took a team of 20 children and we had great fun!
Year 2 have been learning about the properties of 3D shapes this week. Today they have tried sorting the shapes according to their properties.
Mr Smith talked to us about life in an African village. We enjoyed playing with the African toys and artefacts.
We enjoyed looking at the animals.
We had an amazing visit from Zoolab today. The children were VERY brave and held lots of different types of animals.
Class 2 have been learning all about Christopher Columbus. After finding out about his life we began used our art and DT skills to paint, sketch and create boats.
