Year 1 have been finding quarters of pictures, objects and quantities. They used lego to help them.
In science we have been looking at the features of different types of animals. We made reptiles from clay, looking closely at their features. The children did a great job!
In science we have been investigating materials. Class 2 tested out various types of paper such as tissue paper, printer paper, wax paper, newspaper. We were trying to find out which type of paper was best for different uses e.g. mopping up water, drawing and painting.
Year 5 and Year 6 went to the bowling alley in Washington for their Christmas party. After an hour of bowling, they enjoyed a meal before returning to school. Everyone had lots of fun!
As part of our science work on humans, Yr5/6 explored a virtual reality heart in the classroom. Using an app, we could see the realistic heart pumping right in front of our eyes! We exercised using an Apple watch which worked with the virtual heart and we were able to observe how our heart rates changed.
Class 4 took part in a practical maths lessons where they investigated what measures they needed to use to find out an objects mass, length and capacity. Great fun was had by all especially during the capacity tasks…..
As part of our topic this term, a lady in the role of a WRVS met with the children and took them through what it would feel like to be evacuated in the war. The children learnt about the process from being ‘tagged’ ready to board the train to the time they had to wait to be chosen by family. The children learnt how to play typical WWII games including marbles, skipping and sticks. The children had a marvellous afternoon and many wanted to keep their ‘tag’ attached for home.
This week Year 1 and 2 have been learning how to follow and write instructions. We sorted and followed instructions. Take a look at our crowns!
Year 5 and 6 have been working with an artist for the last few weeks using various mediums to create poppies to commemorate the 1st World War. They have used pastels, pen and ink, printing and have also used clay to create their poppies. Their beautiful work will be displayed on the outside wall of the classroom for you to see when you are in school.
Class 2 have been investigating 2D shapes. We have been sorting shapes, drawing shapes and using them to make pictures.
